http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/54/
http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/54/#When:17:15:41Z
sometimes just one single animaiton can help with understanding of a topic. I like these on the topic of heat transfer. The Leslie cube and the Convection Animation linked here were very helpful in my class this week. Can’t make head or tail of the other two however!!
http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/40/
http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/40/#When:21:08:13Z
I promised to post here after a workshop…. (and then promptly forgot all about it)

For testing theory I have been trying a few tasks…

“Circuit Training”
This is really a really simple way of checking theory…
You will need: a few different colors of markers and flip charts/ large sheets of paper.
Step 1: Pair up your students to revise/train together
Step 2: Assign a topic to revise or “train for”
Step 3: Put an open ended question at the top of each page.
Step 4: Set a time limit for each station (1 min) and allow students to rotate around the stations (each answer can only be written once!)

2012-02-26T22:15:08+00:00Ideas for Science Projects
http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/28/
http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/28/#When:10:56:18Z
I have been working with Science Project ideas for SciFest with
some of our students. As well as the SciFest.ie website, I have found
the following websites useful for triggering ideas:
www.sciencebuddies.org
www.SteveSpanglerScience.com

Sciencebuddies has an array of fun project ideas from aerodynamics to
zoology.

Steve Spangler’s webiste also has great science demos. We did the
‘Gold Pennies’ with the First Years. It was a great way of explaining
alloys and students went home with gold (brass) and silver cents!

Does anyone have any other sites for project ideas which we can add to
the list?

http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/27/#When:18:19:02Z
Here’s a good site for those of us looking for sites designed to exploit the new interactive whiteboard in the room. Graphics are good, and it is fairly in line with out syllabus (GCSE must have the motor as you will see).
http://www.learningcircuits.co.uk/flashmain.htm

There is a whole lot more at a wiki called ICT Magic by a creative and generous UK teacher called Martin Burret - well worth your while having a look or telling your students about it.
2012-02-18T18:19:02+00:00Questions on Momentum and Levers

http://www.discoversensors.ie/forum/viewthread/16/#When:12:49:10Z
Does anyone have questions on the topic of Momentum and Law of the Lever to test students understanding of the topic? As far as I know, its not a topic we have covered in our assessment questions. I am having some difficulty coming up with some good questions in this area.
2012-01-13T12:49:10+00:00
